Overall, creating a professional electronic portfolio has been tedious, yet, rewarding. During the course of the fall and spring semester, I worked diligently to craft a portfolio that represents me as a beginning middle grades teacher of English Language Arts and Social Studies.
Reflecting back, the progression of designing the final product of my professional electronic portfolio was slow, but steady. The initial step was to select an electronic format; I selected Weebly. I initially was going to use Google Sites, but I wasn't completely impressed with their layouts. So, I then became accustomed to the navigating through Weebly, and developed a general outline for the portfolio. Once I established the required categories, I created folders on my desktop, and began to drop potential artifacts in each folder. I narrowed down the artifact selection, and when I had at least two artifacts in each folder, I engaged in a revision process to polish the artifacts. When all artifacts were ready, I uploaded them to the appropriate category on my Weebly site. After all artifacts were uploaded, I wrote reflections to introduce and briefly explain the artifacts presented to the viewer. The remainder of the process involved numerous revisions until I was satisfied with the entire portfolio.
Ultimately, the professional electronic portfolio demonstrates the journey I have endured as a student in the College of Education at NC State University. The portfolio reveals the the array amount of knowledge I have acquired in the past four years. I am confident in my ability as an educator, and am eager to see the impact my attitude, beliefs, and ideas about education have in the classroom.
