21st Century Technologies and Skills
In this section of my portfolio you will find artifacts that demonstrate my knowledge and usage of 21st century skills in the classroom. Twenty-first-century learning involves enabling today's students to be academically competitive in global situations; good citizens within their community, country, and world; and effective within their workplace. It means that education must engage new technologies, equip students with rigorous academic coursework, and foster innovation and creativity.
There are a number of ways to incorporate 21st century learning in the classroom. In the Middle Grades Education program at NC State University, my professors have made it their job to not only teach us by practice, but also by allowing us to be active learners and assign us projects and assignments that force us to use various forms of 21st century skills and techniques. I've also had the chance to observe classroom teachers and students engaged in 21st century learning first hand, during my student teaching experience this semester.
